Today I write to you from Faro, Portugal. I left my beautiful family in Granada two days ago and am now starting a new adventure. Today I have been to the beach and probably had a little too much sun (I know this because there are parts of me that look more lobster than human), so now I am at my hostel having some down time. I wanted to share some photos of my second to last weekend in Granada, I went to The Alhambra with nearly the whole family, including the Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles! It was a beautiful day and The Alhambra did not disappoint, so without further ado, here are some pictures. |

Hola Amigos! With only 4 weeks left here in Granada I am embarrassed to say that this is my first blog post about my time here. I arrived here at the end of March and things have been non stop ever since. I chose Carlos and Yasmina to be my new host family while I was staying in Ireland, and I have definitely made the right decision. I didn't know what to expect because my first Au Pair family was amazing and I still miss them all the time, but I am happy to say that being here with Carlos, Yasmina, Pablo and Marta has been just as amazing. The week I arrived was Semana Santa (Easter) so for this week I basically did no "work" at all. Also their previous Au Pair Ellora (who is also from New Zealand and has a blog full of great travel photos and food posts which you can find here) was here for 10 days so I had my own personal tour guide and companion to teach me about everything from the bus schedule to the best places to get tapas. Hola, I have exactly two weeks left here in Spain. Thinking back, three months sounded like a long time but now I feel like I have blinked and it has all disappeared! And living in a city where there is so much culture and activity I still have a lot to see and do in my last two weeks. I am so glad that I made the decision to come here and have not regretted it for one day! Hola, friends and family. This friday night in honor of Monique's birthday, Monique, Molly and I planned a little adventure in Barcelona, spending the night away from out families together! When I say planned I use the term very loosely because we weren't exactly organized. There are so many choices of things to do so we just made a rough plan and went from there (much to the frustration of others when they asked us what we were doing) We stayed in a hostel called Itaca which was really cool. It was in the perfect place in the city, not far from La Rambla and Plaça de Catalunya. They actually have apartments just around the corner from the main hostel and that is where we stayed. We had a room all to ourselves, and pushed the single bed up against the double so it was just like a giant sleepover. The only other people we saw the whole time we were there was a couple who we saw for a grand total of 5 minutes the next morning, so we basically had the place to ourselves. Perfect! This was my first time ever in a hostel and I was happy as Larry, although Monique has warned me that I shouldn't expect thing to be as good as this most of the time. :(
