This blog post is now long overdue. I left Spain just over a week ago now and have only just had the chance to sit down and write this, on Christmas Eve. Having time to reflect on my 3 months in Barcelona has made me realise just how lucky I was to have found the family that I did. They treated me like one of them, joked with me, looked after me when I was sick, gave me lots of kisses and cuddles, taught me spanish and fed me like a Queen. On my second to last day Marta, Lluis and I went to watch a demonstration of the boys swimming in the morning and in the afternnon Marta surprised us with a trip to the beach for lunch. It was a perfect day, very cold but sunny (I miss the beach!). Then they surprised me again by telling me that the boys had the day off school and would be coming with me to say goodbye at the Airport. I find myself missing different things about each member of my new family. I miss the way Oriol would take the piss out of my Spanish at the dinner table (by the way, nothing will bring down your confidence faster then a 5 year old being smarter at something then you). I miss carrying around Arnau while he clings on like a baby monkey, or some of the sassy replies he used to give people. I miss my host dad Lluis using the word "fucker" every chance he could since I taught him the word. I miss my host mum Marta's cooking and that she would say "negative" when answering a question instead of "no". |

Hola, I have exactly two weeks left here in Spain. Thinking back, three months sounded like a long time but now I feel like I have blinked and it has all disappeared! And living in a city where there is so much culture and activity I still have a lot to see and do in my last two weeks. I am so glad that I made the decision to come here and have not regretted it for one day! |
