I said goodbye to Kinsale in early March and travelled to Belfast, Northern Ireland. And because I am a truthful girl I will admit that the main (only) reason I originally wanted to go to Northern Ireland was to go to Belfast and do a Game of Thrones/Giants Causeway tour.
You may now laugh...
Moving on, I stayed in a hostel for a few nights and the hostel was fine. It was finding it that was my problem. I got off my bus and started walking with my suitcase and two backpacks (I have been traveling for six months, don't judge me) and started walking to the hostel which should have been 10 minutes away. After about 20 minutes/half an hour of walking I asked a lady if I was headed in the right direction, she told me I was but I had a fair way to go and walked with me some of the way as she was going in the same direction. After we parted ways I kept walking, keeping in mind that she said I had a long way to go. After another 20/30 minutes I was becoming desperate because a 10 minute walk had turned into and hour and I was starting to really regret the amount of luggage I had accumulated. I asked an old lady walking by if I was on the right road and she told me I was but that this road was very long so I should probably catch the bus. And when I told her that I would just keep walking as I didn't have any cash, this beautiful stranger got out her purse and gave me a "fiver". I told her that I couldn't take her money and I would be fine but, she insisted. At this point I literally burst into tears, I looked like an absolute fool but I was so grateful! I ended up using the money for a taxi and got to the hostel safely. I realise that this lady will never see this, but I will put it out into the universe anyway. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Also kids, let this be a lesson to you, we live in a modern world with eftpos and credit cards but always carry some cash! (and remember where you put it)
I did manage to do my tour which was interesting and sometimes overwhelming. I am a fan and wanted to see some of the locations (mainly The Dark Hedges aka The Kings Road) but the guide for this tour was a next level fan. I don't think a second goes by that he doesn't think about the books/show and we hardly got a minutes silence the whole tour. But The Dark Hedges did not disappoint and we also got to see The Giants Causeway, bonus!
